Secretary/Treasurer Bruce Woods Inducts Chris MahlmannMerrillville, IN June 2, 2008- The Merrillville Noon Kiwanis goal of "changing the world one child and one community at a time" recently received a boost with the addition of two new members. Jeff Marlatt with Wachovia Securities and Christopher Mahlmann, President of Ideas in Motion, have now added their expertise to the growing club.

"We're proud to be working with Kiwanis, and hope that together we can reach even more people in the community," said Mahlmann.

"Our new members arrived at a perfect time," said Merrillville Noon Kiwanis President Barb Koby. "With their help, we can make our upcoming fund raising efforts more successful than ever."

The Merrillville Kiwanis’ next major fund raising project is their annual peanut sales. Plans are already underway to make this a record-setting promotion. The Kiwanis Club of Merrillville is involved with projects geared towards advancing the prospects of the community's children. The club supports several local organizations including the Merrillville High School Kiwanis Scholarship, Merrillville Kiwanis Dictionary Project and MHS Key club in addition to charities such as Riley Ronald McDonald House and Children's Hospital. The Merrillville Noon Kiwanis meets every Thursday at the Old Country Buffet in Merrillville, 1634 E 80th Avenue, from noon until 1:00 PM. Anyone interested in making a difference in the community and specifically the lives of children or learning more about Kiwanis is invited to attend.
